In January and February, Pierre-Lou followed duck captures on the Réserve naturelle nationale de la Baie de l’Aiguillon. The ONCFS and the LPO, as part of the Life project Baie de l'Aiguillon, perform ringing and setting of emitters on mallards and common teals. The emitters will make it possible to locate precisely the marked individuals, in order to study their use of habitat in the Marais Poitevin.

For most of the fall and winter, every day, Saturday and Sunday included, the managers of the reserve check the traps at sunrise. It is a true ritual, each step must then be conscientiously followed to carry out these particular operations.
