The waterbird census in mid-January is organised by Wetlands International, an organisation dedicated to the conservation and restoration of wetlands around the world.
Thanks to a network of more than 150,000 volunteers, 50,000 wetlands are referenced and counted in nearly 180 countries around the world.
The census is carried out simultaneously in each major region (over one or two days around mid-January) in order to provide a snapshot of the distribution of water populations on the different migration routes.
This year, the Wetlands network, the LPO and the OFB have taken up my image of teals to illustrate the cover of the report. A nice recognition for my images!
